District Wide Mental Health Spirit Week
During the week of January 27th–31st, being midterm week and stressful for students and staff, BTB organized a district-wide mental health focused spirit week, bringing together elementary, middle, and high school students in a shared effort to promote mental health awareness. As highlighted on our "Behind the Scenes" page, our team proposed this initiative to the Board of Education and successfully gained approval from the superintendent. This spirit week not only fostered school wide unity but also reiterated the importance of mental health for all ages.
Destress @ Kula Yoga and Fitness
On February 26th, BTB hosted a destress event at Kula Yoga, bringing people together through movement and mindfulness. We worked on different Asanas, such as the "Vinyasa" sequence, and Ujjayi breathing techniques, and wrapped up with a final Savasana session. This session wasn't just about yoga; it was also about coming together in a safe space, fighting feelings of isolation, and boosting self-esteem through self-care.
Midterm “pick-me-up’s”
During the weeks of January 27-31 & February 3-7, many students faced the challenges of taking midterm exams, like enduring long nights of studying and an overwhelming workload. To combat this, BTB members handed out motivational cards with attached candy, offering students a small but meaningful reminder that they are not alone, and served as a 'little pick-me-up’ for their stressful week!
Board and Brush
On January 16, 2025, BTB hosted an engaging "Unwind & Destress" event at the local business Board and Brush! The event featured delicious food and exciting raffle prizes generously donated by local favorites, including Nothing Bundt Cakes, Confectionately Yours, and Vinny's. With an incredible turnout of 45 students from South Brunswick High School, the event was a fantastic opportunity to promote relaxation and well-being. We're thrilled with the success and look forward to expanding our mission to reach students in other districts!
Burnout Tree Stand
On January 30th, 2025, BTB hosted a mental health stand during lunch, encouraging students to participate in activities that raised awareness about burnout. Students answered burnout trivia questions to win stress balls and contributed to BTB’s Legacy Burnout Tree, a lasting symbol of resilience in our school. They wrote their leading causes of burnout on the trunk and their coping strategies on the leaves, creating a powerful visual representation of both struggle and growth. This tree will remain a permanent fixture in our high school, serving as a reminder of the challenges students face and the supportive community that stands together to overcome them.
SEL Stand
On March 3rd, BTB had the opportunity to collaborate with our high school's Student Assistance Counselors to host a positivity stand. Students wrote positive affirmations in exchange for a piece of candy. This created a simple yet meaningful way to boost morale and build confidence within our school community!
2nd Floor app Raffle
On February 27th, BTB held a raffle stand during all lunches to promote self-care and mental health resources. Students who downloaded 2nd Floor, a confidential helpline for NJ youth and young adults, were entered for a chance to win a self-care basket filled with sweet treats! This encouraged students to access support systems and were able to prioritize their well-being.
Vision Board @ SBHS Mental Health Fair
BTB Was able to join the SBHS Mental Health Fair. We held a vision board stand, where students could decorate a corkboard with images and quotes, as well as personal messages. Through this stand, we were able to promote a stress-free environment where students could positively look at their future, creating dreams and hopes. Following the theme of easter, students were able to spin a wheel, to decide their ‘egg fortune’, which had positive messages and exciting fortunes inside, and receive a stress ball to help with upcoming exams!
Caffeine Alternatives Stand
BTB held a caffeine alternative stand during lunch! During exam season students often look to caffeine as their solution to fatigue, however, this isn't the healthiest option. With alternatives like juice, kombucha, green tea, etc. Students were exposed to drinks that relieve fatigue but in a healthier way!
